Kodgi takes over as K'taka Third Finance Commission Chairman

Bangalore, Sep 6 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Karnataka unit Vice-President A G Kodgi today took over as Chairman of the Third Finance Commission of the State.

Retired bureaucrat T Thimmegowda and Economist Dr Mahesh R Kanti also assumed charge as members of the Commission.

In a release here, Mr Kodgi said the Commission would tour the State and meet people's representatives at various levels to elicit their views and suggestions with regard to mobilisation of resources to run local bodies. A State-level convention to strengthen the Panchayati Raj system would be convened in October, he informed.

The former MLA announced his resignation to the posts of BJP Vice-President and BJP State Election Returning Officer to ensure impartial functioning.
