Karunanidhi launches PMK's new TV channel
Chennai, Sep 6 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today wanted the newly launched 'Makkal TV' ('People's TV') to educate the people on the latest scientific advancements.
Launching the new television channel promoted by PMK founder- Dr S Ramadoss, he pointed out the rights, welfare and liberation of the people of Tamil Nadu ''were hanging'' in both the Tamil Nadu and national politics. He exhorted the new channel to telecast these politics in a civilised and disciplined manner.
Referring to Dr Ramadoss's plea that the DMK government and he should help the new television channel in its growth and development, Mr Karunanidhi assured that he would extend all possible help.
Dr Ramadoss assured that his new television channel-MTV, would telecast people's issues in the right perspective and direction.
Union Health Minister Dr Anbumani Ramadoss said the MTV would not telecast vulgar and obsecene programmes, those deregotory to women, smoking and drinking.
Union Communications minister Dayanidhi Maran, who inaugurated the programmes of the MTV hoped that the channel would serve the people.
TNCC Prsident M Krishnassamy, CPI(M) Tamil Nadu unit secretary N Varadarajan, CPI state secretary T Pandyan, DK Headquarters Secretary Kali Poongundran were among those who also spoke.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Das Munshi who was to attend the function could not turn up. However, his message was read out at the function.
