IBM to 'mentor' IT students in UP; signs MoU
Lucknow, Sep 6 (UNI) Global technology major IBM today signed an MoU with the Uttar Pradesh government to 'mentor' IT students in the state.
To energise emerging IT ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh, state IT and Electronics department and International Business Machine (IBM) Corporation announced that UP will partake in IBM India's Project INVITE (Initiative to Nurture a Vibrant IT Ecosystem) programme.
The project is an initiative to nurture a talent pool in select Indian states, which are rapidly adopting IT to drive economic development.
INVITE is aimed at significantly contributing to capacity building efforts by enhancing the local talent pool, which would make the state attractive for IT investments.
Munindra Kumar Bharatee, Eco Systems Leader, IBM Software Group, presented the draft MoU to UP Industrial Development Commissioner (IDC) Atul Kumar Gupta at a function here this afternoon.
Project INVITE compliments the IBM academic initiative, a programme to help universities skill students on open source, open standards based technologies and IBM techologies for a more competitive workforce.
It seeks to reach out to IT progressive states such as UP, that are rapidly adopting information technology to enhance e-governance and citizen services.
