Govt grants extension to official to save minister : Congress
Patna, Sep 6 (UNI) The Opposition Congress today alleged that Bihar Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav had misused his power by influencing a government official to withraw a case against him.
Chief spokesman of the party Prem Chandra Mishra said the minister had influenced a complainant to withdraw the case against him by recommending extension in his services.
Superintending Engineer of Bihar Hydro Corporation Lalan Prasad had lodged a case against Mr Yadav in 1992, alleging that he had tampered with the evidence related to corruption cases.
Despite several summons, Mr Yadav, who was minister in the Lalu Prasad government when the case was registered, did not appear before the court and was later declared absconder, he added.
Mr Mishra alleged the official had filed the petition in the court to withdraw the case against Mr Yadav following state government's nod for extension in his services. Earlier, he had also raised the matter before state election commission and Bihar governor and sought their intervention.
Mr Mishra demanded cancellation of extension of service order for the officer.
