Ghosn says Nissan-Renault alliance can be opened
PARIS, Sept 6 (Reuters) Carlos Ghosn, chief executive of Renault and Nissan, said the two companies' alliance could be opened to other partners, but did not mention General Motors Corp or any other company by name.
Unveiling the new Nissan Qashqai four-by-four car on Wednesday, Ghosn said in a short and rapidly delivered speech that the alliance between the French and Japanese groups was ''unique'' and built on mutual trust.
''Under the right conditons, the benefits of alliance can be extended and significant value can be created for all partners,'' he said.
He added Nissan was ready for a new phase of growth and said the Qashqai was an example of the shift in attitude at the company.
''At Nissan we learned the hard way that in order to have success you need to take risks,'' he said.
