34th National Convention of Company Secretaries begins tomorrow
Kolkata, Sep 6 (UNI) More than 800 Corporate Directors, Company Secretaries and senior Management executives from India and abroad will participate in the three day 34th National Convention of Company Secretaries which begins here tomorrow.
To be inaugurated by union Company Affairs minister P C Gupta, in presence of ASSOCHAM President Anil Agarwal, the Convention, being held in the city after a gap of six years, would make attempts to add further value to the knowledge resources of Indian corporate sectors through excellence and competitiveness.
Speaking more about the three day event, Institute of Company Secretaries of India(ICSI) President H M Choraria here today said besides deliberating on the main theme of " Value enhancing for corporate governance" the speakers would deal on different aspects of the newly implemented labour laws and how best they could be implemented in the Indian corporate sector.
Stating that in order to bring in more transperancy into the proper execution of the newly modified labour laws, the ICSI had submitted three separate reports to the union Labour minister last year and to their counterparts in different states this year highlighting a number of steps suggesting proper implementation of labour laws in different sectors through various transparent manners.
He said with more than 30 foreign delegates from around the globe participating in the Convention,ICSI had also taken a special initiative to introduce a global brand for the Company Secretaries courses in association with the Geneva based International Federation of Company Secretatries by this year.
A number of other initiatives had also been taken by the Institute to boost its international image, Mr Choraria said adding that these included launching of an one year Post membership Qualification course, the first of its kind in India, from this year.
Among the foreign participants are senior excutives from South Africa, Australia, the U K, Kenya, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan, Mr Choraria informed.
