Warm, humid weather returns to capital, mercury rises to 35.1
New Delhi, Sep 5 (UNI) After bountiful rainfall in the capital last week, it was back to warm and humid weather today as the sun left Delhiites scorching during the day.
Though clouds continued to hover over the Delhi skyline, the predominant weather was sunny, interspersed with cloudy intervals.
The sunny weather, coupled with a high himidity level of 80 per cent, led to a rise in maximum temperature to 35.1 degree Celsius, from 32.4 Degree C yesterday.
Barring a short spurt of rainfall in some areas of East Delhi, it was another rainless day in the capital.
Last week saw the capital receiving nearly 200 mm of rainfall. In all 210 mm of rainfall was recorded in Delhi last week, making the rainfall in Delhi more than 20 per cent in surplus of the normal rain in Delhi during the season.
The rain, coupled with southerly winds, brought coolness in the weather.
It has been humid in the capital since Sunday. The humidity is likely to prevail for the rest of the week with the weather office forecasting a partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain and thundershowers during the next 24 hours.
Frequent lulls in rainfall activity over the last few months had led to apprehensions that Delhi might receive less than normal rainfall. However, showers of the last week have dispelled these fears.
