Unilever looks at organic growth
Kolkata, Sept 05 (UNI) Global fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) major Unilever is looking at organic ways of growth and feels that there is immense opportunity to penetrate in different market segments in India.
"There is a lot of headroom and penetration opportunity in the consumer goods segment in India and we are looking at organic growth opportunities," Unilever Asia and Africa president Harish Manwani said.
Manwani, however, said that there were opportunities for inorganic growth through margers and acquisitions but the move should be strategic.
"We have to look at merger and acquisition opportunities in a strategic way through focus on specific core areas of operation," he said.
He said Unilever's subsidiary Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) had already acquired Tomco, Lakme and Kissan in the past with focus on strategic core areas.
He said the main aim of Unilever to put together a growth agenda which is sustainable.
Manwani was speaking on the sidelines of the "CEO Conclave" organised by the Calcutta Management Association (CMA).
