Sensex down 41 pts in the intra-noon trade

Mumbai, Sept 05 (UNI) The BSE Sensex was today trading 41.39 points below the previous close in the intra-noon session, as profit bookings emerged at the higher level.

Also, the warning by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh of possible terrorist strikes on economic installations has generated some type of edginess at the bourses.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) is currently trading at 11, 872.82 points. Even the benchmark Asian Indices are bit low today.

Amongst the sectoral indices on the BSE, most of the indices were trading in the red, led by FMCG sector down by 0.78 per cent, consumer durables down by 0.67 per cent, auto down by 0.45 per cent and technoloty down by 0.30 per cent, whereas the gainers were PSU up by 0.45 per cent, and capital goods up by 0.37 per cent.

Major gainers on the index were Hindalco, ACC, BHEL, Grasim Industries, Gujarat Ambuja Cement, SBI, ONGC, Tata Steel, Hero Honda and Reliance Communications, all up from 0.63 to 1.55 per cent.

Besides, the losers were - Tata Motors, ITC, ICICI, Maruti Udyog, Wipro, TCS, Dr Reddy's Lab, HDFC, HDFC Bank and Infosys, all down from 0.69 to 1.44 per cent.
