Pondy police gearing up to end rowdism: ASSP
Pondicherry, Sep 5 (UNI) The Pondicherry police is gearing up to put an end to the menace of rowdies in the union territory, Additional Senior Superintendent of Police (ASSP) B Srikanth said here today.
In an informal chat with newspersons after returning a bag containing money a business man lost in the road yesterday, Mr Srikanth said the Chief Minister in a highl level meeting of the police here recently had pointed out the increasing murder cases and asked the police to curb the rowdy menace and not to take any recommendations from any quarters. On the basis of this advise, eight notorious rowdies were identified and would be arrested soon, he said.
Sivakumaran of Ambalathadayarmadam street lost his bag, containing Rs 15,000 in cash, cheque book and credit card yesterday.
it was found by Manoharan of Govinda saalai, a mechanic who handed it over to Mr Srikanth. The bag's owner was identified and it was handed over today. Hailing the honesty of Manoharan, Mr Sivakumaran gave him Rs 5,000 as reward, he added.
