Oil major launches high capacity tankers in India
Bangalore, Sep 5 (UNI) Oil Major Shell India Marketing Private Limited (SIMPL) today launched its state-of-the-art high capacity petroleum tankers in India.
The trucks have a fuel carrying capacity of 28 kilolitres/35 kilolitres and conform to Petroleum Rules/ UN-ADR /Shell Global specifications, a SIMPL release here said today, adding that the tankers aimed at setting new standards in road transportation of fuels.
Shell Executive Vice President, Supply and Distribution, Mark Williams said in the release the new fleet of tankers would raise the bar for innovation and road safety and act as a positive demonstration of Shell's commitment to safety standards in India.
''Shell is recognised around the world for its strong commitment to safety and today we are particularly grateful to the Chief Controller of Explosives (CCOE) for his invaluable support to this initiative,'' he added.
The tankers were equipped with the latest safety features such as ABS brakes, air suspensions, tubeless tyres and hand railings for working at heights with brake interlocks. In addition, for the first time in India, the trucks come equipped with the latest in diptronics to facilitate gauging and enroute tracking for safeguarding against adulteration, pilferage and receiving the fuel products at retail stations.
In July 2004, Shell India had acquired a marketing license from the Union Government to set up a network of up to 2,000 fuel retail stations in the country.
Shell India Marketing Pvt Ltd had its state-of-the-art high capacity petroleum tankers manufactured to specifications by Volvo India.
