NFL employees suffer food poisoning on Foundation Day feast

New Delhi, Sep 5 (UNI) A celebration of the 33rd Foundation Day of the public sector National Fertilisers Limited turned into a nightmare for 100-odd guests who suffered food poisoning after taking snacks.

They were being regaled by gazal maestro Jagjit Singh besides being served eatables, tea and coffee when some participants complained of stomach-ache, giddiness and nausea.

Three days after the Friday evening function, some guests were still recovering.

They were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals.

The authorities swung into action and a complaint was lodged with the police and the Hauz Khas police station registered an FIR next morning, on September two.

According to report released by NFL authorities today, 12 of their employees are still under treatment in various hospitals in Delhi and Noida.

The victims also included NFL DGM Yash Kumar and his wife Savita Sachdeva.

The NFL authorities said eatables were supplied by an authorised caterer from Shastri Nagar. Nobody was allowed to bring eatables from outside into the Siri Fort, they added.
