NEC releases Rs 6.58 cr to modernise Mizoram airport
Aizawl, Sep 5 (UNI) The North Eastern Council (NEC) has sanctioned Rs 6.58 crore to upgrade Mizoram's lone airport to bring it at par with international standards.
The upgradation progamme includes extension of the fire station, repairing the roof of the terminal building alongwith the construction of a waiting shed outside the building and a road around the airport.
In addition, an Instrument Landing System (ILS) and a Digital Current Weather Information System (DCWIS) would be installed to avoid frequent flight cancellations experienced due to poor visibility, airport authorities said.
Two fire crush tenders worth five crore rupees have been imported from the Czech Republic that could get to a flaming aircraft within three minutes anywhere at the airport, they said.
