Mulayam assures speedy development of Bundelkhand

Lalitpur, Sep 5 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today assured that after the coming rainy season, the overall condition of the Bundelkhand region would be improved considerably.

Addressing a public meeting here, Mr Yadav said whenever his party came to power, several developmental schemes were implemented and budgetary allocation amount for development of the region was increased.

On the occasion, he laid the foundation and dedicated to people as many as 116 projects worth Rs 50.40 crore.

He also distributed cheques to 805 intermediate passed girls under 'Kanya Vidhyadhan Yojna' and unemployment allowance to 1,387 youth.

Besides, Rs 5 lakh to 600 beneficiaries of old age pension and Rs 36,000 to 40 widows as pension were also distributed.

Mr Yadav also directed for starting immediately the proceedings for a journalists' colony.

Mr Yadav said the SP-led UP government had fulfilled vows made in the manifesto, which had become a model for other states. ''States of Andhra Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Tamil Nadu have asked about the unemployment allowance scheme underway in the state.'' He alleged ''the Centre did not cooperate with his government and continued to create hurdles in development works and schemes launched. All opposition parties have become united for removing my government.'' Reacting to the Congress' charge that the unemployment allowance was being distributed from central funds, he claimed former Prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and present incumbent Manmohan Singh in their letters had written they were not in a position to provide unemployment allowance to youth.

Mr Yadav said unemployment allowance and Kanya Vidyadhan Yojna were being implemented without any discrimination. ''My government has been successful in providing free medicines and education.'' His government was working for the welfare and betterment of farmers, he said adding it had provided them the remunerative price for their produce. He assured that Bundelkhand would become the best region and Lalitpur a beautiful city very soon.
