MobileNXT in pact with Shopper's Stop for cell phone sales

Bangalore, Sep 5 (UNI) The country's first mobile retail chain, MobileNXT Teleservices, today entered into a tie-up with leading retail store Shopper's Stop to set up concept stores offering mobile products, services and value-adds.

Speaking after the launch, MobileNXT CEO Vijay Menon said that beginning with the two Shopper's Stop stores in Bangalore, the company would set up 'store-in-store' for selling mobile phones and a host of services in all its 20 upmarket retail outlets in the country in the next three months.

Launched in March this year, MobileNXT had set up 13 stores across the country and it would add another 31 by the end of the fiscal. In three years, the number of stores in the chain would grow to 170. The company was also setting up a call centre exclusively for mobile services in Bangalore, he said.

''With the boom in mobile industry over the last two years, there is a need to provide value-based consumer experience to this growing market. Our association with Shopper's Stop will benefit all parties involved and the consumer can now get even telecom products under the same roof,'' Mr Menon said.

MobileNXT head of operations Romy Juneja said that in tune with the mobile boom, most of the chain stores were now providing exclusive space for cell phones. ''First it was the food outlets that attracted the customers in such places. The cell phone shoppies have now become crowd pullers. Hence, our company has decided to set up stores inside upmarket malls, which offer products categorised not by brands, but by the value they add to the customer and a host of other mobile-connected services,'' he added.
