MK to distribute waste-lands to farmers on Sep 17: Minister
Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, Sep 5 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Revenue Minister I Periasamy reviewed the steps taken to distribute waste-lands to landless farmers in this district by State Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on September 17.
Talking to newspersons here yesterday he said Mr Karunanidhi would distribute waste-lands to 1032 farmers in the first phase on the occasion of the birth anniversary of rationalist leader Periyar EV Ramasamy. The waste-land scheme would be implemented in three phases, he added.
Mr Periasamy said efforts have been made to segregate the lands into waste-land, forceful occupation of Government lands and private patta lands. Steps have been initiated to provide water and electricity facilities in waste-lands to make use of it in the best possible manner, he added.
He said the Government has also taken steps to provide basic facilities in the waste-lands to enable the farmers to generate revenue from it, he added.
Tirupedumpudur MP A Krishnasamy, District MLA, E A P Sivaji, District Collector P Ranveer Prasad, were among others, who accompanied the minister.
