Ganga swelling from Phaphamau to Ballia
Varanasi, Sep 5 (UNI) All major rivers in this region of Uttar Pradesh are in spate following the release of over 11 lakh cusecs water from flood affected Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
While Ganga was swelling from Phaphamau to Ballia, Yamuna was rising in Naini (Allahabad) and Gomti followed suit in Jaunpur, despite declining in Sultanpur, Central Water Commission sources told UNI here today.
Ganga was flowing 1.5 metres and 2.4 metres below the danger mark in Ballia and Ghazipur respectively.
The river was flowing 2.5 metres, 3 metres, 3.5 metres and 4 metres below the red mark in Phaphamau, Allahabad, Varanasi and Mirzapur respectively till 0800 this morning.
Meahwhile, Yamuna was also in spate in Naini, while Gomti, which was receding in Sultanpur, was on the rise in Jaunpur.
