Flood continues to worry UP
Lucknow, Sep 5 (UNI) Flood worries continues to be a cause of worry for people in Uttar Pradesh with all major rivers in spate following the release of over 11 lakh cusecs water from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Ganga was flowing 1.5 metres and 2.4 metres below the danger mark in Ballia and Ghazipur districts.
The river was flowing 2.5 m in Phaphamau, 3 metres in Allahabad, 3.5 m in Varanasi, while 4 m below the red mark in Mirzapur.
The Central Water Commission said while Ganga was swelling from Phaphamau to Ballia, Yamuna was rising in Naini (Allahabad) and Gomti followed suit in Jaunpur, despite declining in Sultanpur.
The district administration has asked the residents of 250 villages, situated in low lying areas on the banks of Ganga and Yamuna, to shift to safer places following ensuing danger of flood.
District Magistrate of Allahabad Amrit Abhijat yesterday said the administration was fully prepared to meet any situation caused by flood. He has instructed officials to be high alert and get ready for any situation.
Besides, 62 flood relif camps have been set in these villages.The Sluje gate on Bakshi barrage had been closed, while police and divers were also alarmed.
There's a good news for People in Faizabad, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Barabanki, Gonda and Lakhimpur Kheri as the water level of Rapti, Ganga, Sharda, Saryu and Ghagra has started decreasing.
A report from Hamirpur said Betwa was rising continuously along its course, following which the situation is tense in Jhansi and Hamirpur districts.
Rainfall occured in Kanpur, Faizabad, Bareilly and Moradabad.
Rainfall/thundershowers is likely at many places in the last 24 hrs.
