Duty on wheat import for private trade to be notified soon
New Delhi, Sep 5 (UNI) After meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Agriculture and Food Minister Sharad Pawar today said waiving of customs duty on wheat import by private trades, will be notified in a day or two.
''The decision to bring the duty down to zero on wheat imports by the private players will be notified within a day or two '', Mr Pawar told reporters after his meeting with the Prime Minister along with Finance Minister P Chidambaram.
Earlier in the day, Chairman of the Central Board of Excise and Customs V P Sigh had said that the five per cent duty on wheat import remains in place.
