Bill on the cards to regulate nursing homes in K'taka

Bangalore, Sep 5 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will introduce a Bill to regulate all nursing homes and clinics in the coming Assembly session, Health Minister R Ashok informed today.

Speaking to newspersons here, he said the Bill would empower the State Government to check any kind of malpractice in nursing homes and clinics and address complaints related to negligence in attending to patients.

Asserting that the State Government would take stringent action against nursing homes and clinics conducting sex determination tests, the Minister said the State had banned the tests to prevent female foeticide. The Government had received reports that many nursing homes and clinics were conducting sex determination tests clandestinely and he had instructed Deputy Commissioners of all districts to deal with it with an iron hand.
