Bahrain firm rolls out over 1,000 insurance policies to Indians
Dubai, Sep 5 (UNI) A Bahrain insurance firm has sold more than 1,000 policies to Indians from low income groups under a new expatriate insurance scheme.
Payanur Sauhruda Vedi became the first Indian expatriate group to enrol 50 of its members in the scheme, launched by Al Ahlia Insurance.
''Known as Pravasi Bharathiya Bima, the three-in-one scheme covers life insurance, personal accident insurance and critical illness insurance,'' said Al Ahlia Insurance deputy general manager S Veerapandian.
It covers expenses for repatriation of bodies, airfare to India in the event of death of immediate family member, education grant for two children and marriage grant for one daughter in the event of death of policy holder due to accident, he said.
Premium is charged annually and will range from BD10 (Rs 1,225) to BD50, and the cover is valid 24 hours and worldwide.
Policy-holder has the option to have his claim settled either in Bahrain or in India. Al Ahlia has devised the scheme in association with Sri Ram Group of India and Ceylinco Insurance of Sri Lanka.
