175 shops put to seal, BJP protests sealing of gyms, 'akharas'

New Delhi, Sep 5 (UNI) Continuing with its drive to seal commercial establishments in Delhi following the recent notification by the Urban Development Ministry, the MCD today put to seal nearly 175 shops in residential areas of the capital.

Meanwhile, the BJP today demanded that the sealing of gyms and akharas be stopped immediately.

MCD sealed ten properties in Rohini Zone where unauthorised construction was going on. At the same time, 50 properties were sealed for misuse of land.

Nine properties were sealed in South zone while nine others were put to seal in Central zone's Kotla Mubarakpur.

In Shahdara (North) Zone, 23 shops were sealed in New Seema Puri, Dilshad Colony, Naveen Shahdara, Pratappura, Shivaji Park, West Rohtash Nagar, Welcome, Bhajanpura for misuse while 21 were sealed for ongoing unauthorised construction.

In Civil Lines four properties were sealed for ongoing unauthorised construction while 48 were sealed for misuse.

In Najafgarh Zone 28 properties were sealed while in Karol Bagh Zone, eight properties were sealed in New Rajinder Nagar.

BJP sports cell president Sunil Gupta, in a statement here, said health centres being run in the basement and on the first floor should be provided relief from sealing.
