UWB merger: Federal Bank's BoD to meet on Sept 6

New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) The Board of Directors of the Cochin-based Federal Bank will hold an emergency meeting on September 6, to consider the issue regarding merger of the United Western Bank of India Ltd (UWB).

''The board will meet on September 6 to consider the matters related to the expression of its interest in taking over UWB,'' the bank said in a statement.

The Federal Bank is being looked as one of the five banks -- ICICI Bank, Canara Bank, Allahabad Bank and Andhra Bank -- in the fray for amalgamation of Maharashtra-based UWB.

UWB was placed under moratorium till December 1, by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Saturday.
