Singer Doherty to be sentenced for drugs offences

LONDON, Sep 4 (Reuters) Rock singer Pete Doherty faces a potential jail term today when he returns to court to be sentenced for a string of drugs offences.

Doherty, who tabloid newspapers continue to link romantically with model Kate Moss, will also appear for a review of a drug rehabilitation order imposed in February.

The Babyshambles frontman pleaded guilty on Aug. 18 to four charges of possessing class A drugs including heroin and cocaine and one charge of possessing cannabis.

He was released on bail on condition he check into a health clinic and observe a night-time curfew.

Doherty will appear at Thames Magistrates Court in east London and faces a maximum six month sentence for each class A drugs offence and three months for the cannabis offence.
