Several arrested in connection with Prof Sabharwal's death

Ujjain, MP, Sep 4 (UNI) Police have arrested 27 workers of the Congress and affiliated student unions and nine workers of the BJP-affiliated student union Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) so far in connection with Madhav College Professor H S Sabharwal's death.

After CID inquiry was ordered into Prof Sabharwal's death in voilence related to postponement of student unions election, the investigating agency arrested two persons.

State ABVP president Shashi Ranjan Akela, was sent to judicial custody up to September 15, while another accused ABVP organisational secretary Vimal Tomar will be presented before court today.

Police today arrested thee NSUI workers -- Vinod Chourasia, Sandeep Lot and Jitendra Parmar -- for creating ruckus in college premises.

After names of BJP and ABVP leaders emerged, the CID arrested several leaders for interrogation last night. Police was still carrying out raids.

Opposing the arrest, BJP workers gheraoed Dewasgate and Jeevajiganj police stations last night. City Superintendent of Police Rajesh Mishra assured that people would be called for interrogation after informing senior BJP workers.

Meanwhile, police were searching BJP councillor Sonu Gehlot and Satyanarain Chouhan for interrogation.
