Seven persons injured in firing at Ramban
Jammu, Sep 4 (UNI) At least seven persons were injured, three of them seriously, when Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans used force to disperse a agitated mob at Sangaldan in Ramban police district today.
However, Ramban's Superintendent of Police Basant Kumar Rath told UNI over phone that CRPF jawans fired in AIR, and that no civilian was injured in firing and total seven to eight injured in the lathicharge.
Inspector General of Police (Jammu) S P Vaid told UNI that the civilians were injured in lathicharge. ''No one got bullet or serious injuries, ''he added.
According to report, around 30 shops and 10 houses were washed away due to heavy rain during past three days in Sangaldan where the Indian Railway Construction Company (IRCON's) constructing a railway project for proposed Katra-Baramulla railway route.
The local people demanding that it construct a shelter for them, were holding a demostrating against the company. The mob turned violent forcing the CRPF jawan, deployed for security of IRCON employees in militancy- infested area, to fire in air, and also lathicharge the crowd, in a bid to disperse them.
