Sensex up 42 pts in the opening move

Mumbai, Sept 04 (UNI) Intense activity on the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index (Sensex) led to heavy buying in the select stocks of the index heavyweights in the opening move.

The sensex opened 42 points up at 11, 824.49 compared to the previous close. Currently the sensitive index is trding at 11,887.77, which is 110 points above the previous close.

Crude oil prices eased below US Dollar 70 a barrel, with the Nymex light crude oil for October delivery falling US Dollar 1.07, to close at US Dollar 69.19 a barrel and the London Brent crude dropping by US Dollar 1.20 at US Dollar 69.11 per barrel. Amongst the sectoral indices Capital Goods led the gainers with an increase of 1.44 per cent and was followed by Consumer Durables and Health Care index which were up by 1.14 per cent each, whereas IT and Metals were up by 1.05 and 1.03 per cent respectively. There were no losers.

The list of gainers on the BSE-30 sensex includes L&T,Tata Motors, Maruti Udyog, Satyam Computers, ICICI bank. Hindalco, TCS, Reliance Communciations, Grasim Industries and HLL all up between 1.07 to 2.08 per cent.

Besides the list of losers only had few scrips- Hero Honda and Dr Reddy's Laboratories both down by 0.98 and 0.04 per cent UNI VS PM AG1114
