Rupee gains 18 paise to close at Rs 46.34/35/USD

Mumbai, Sep 4 (UNI) Indian Rupee today gained strength at 18 paise to close at Rs 46.34/35 per US Dollar compared to the previous close of Rs 46.52 per USD, due to weakning of USD against Asian currencies as also Fund flow coming into the Indian market and strong Stock market performance, a money market trader said.

Earlier, Rupee opened at Rs 46.46/47 per US Dollar and in the mid morning session traded at 46.45/46/US Dollar.

RBI today fixed the Reference Rate at Rs 46.44/US Dollar compared to the previous rate of 46.53 per US Dollar on Friday.

The six month forward premia was fixed low at 1.37 per cent and the one year forward premia was also fixed low at 1.39 per cent.

The Rupee performance against other currencies however was mixed, against Euro, Rupee closed at Rs 59.61, against Pound Sterling it closed at Rs 89.29 and against Yen it closed at Rs 39.92.
