Raje visits flood-hit Sawai Madhopur, Jhalawar districts

Jaipur, Sep 4 (UNI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today surveyed the flood-affected regions in Sawai Madhopur and Bundi districts in the state.

At least 15 villages in Sawai Madhopur villages have been inundated following water discharge from Gandhi Sagar dam and Kota barrage.

Although the rains have receded, the sudden gush of water from the dams submerged the villages leading to difficulties for the villagers.

According to the flood control department, 9578 cusecs of water was discharged from Kota barrage today around 1500 hrs and two gates were open at a height of 4 feet.

Ms Raje is expected to visit Lakheri in Bundi district and Kandhar tehsil in Sawai Madhopur district today where four villags have been affected.

Ms Raje visited Chapiheda village in Jhalawar district which has been submerged owing to oveflowing of Parwan river.

She ordered the district administration to make arrangements for settling the villagers in Taraj village and provide compensation to each flood-affected family immediately.

She also visited the temple where 300 people had taken shelter last Friday after flash floods in the area.
