Pondy teachers to get Awards from Kalam

Pondicherry, Sep 4 (UNI) Two school teachers from the Union Territory have been selected for the National Best Teachers Award by the Centre.

Mr Rasu Radhakrishnan, Headmaster of the Government Primary School at Thattanchavady here and Ms Ko Indumathi, Vice Principal of the Thirunallar Government Higher Secondry School at Karaikal will receive the awards from President A P J Abdul Kalam at a function in New Delhi tomorrow, Education Minister M O H F Shajahan told newspersons here this morning.

While Mr Radhakrishnan had put in 39 years of service, Ms Indumathi had 26 years of experience. The award comprises Rs 25,000 in cash, a silver medal and a certificate.

Mr Shajahan also announced the state award for best teachers would be given away tomorrow.

While Dr S Radhakrishnan Award would be given to four teachers, the Chief Minister's Special Award would be given to seven teachers and Education Minister's Regional Award to ten teachers.
