Pondy CM's plea to women to start industrial units

Pondicherry, Sep 4 (UNI)Pondicherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy today exhorted educated women to set up industrial units in the union territory.

Inaugurating a conference on entreprenuership organised by the Pondicherry Women's Commission here, Mr Rangasamy regretted that women in Pondicherry were engaged in operating vehicles such as autorickshaws and tempos and said they should shed the tendency and start big industrial units.

He recalled the government schemes for women's development such as subsidy to purchase milch animals and start self-employment ventures. Mr Rangasamy said the administration proposed to extend round-the- clock garbage cleaning scheme to rural areas. This would be handed over to women ensuring employment to over 3,000 women.
