No place for propaganda of other religions in Tirumala
Hyderabad, Sep 4 (UNI) Newly-appointed Tirumala-Tirupathi Devastanam (TTD) chairman B Karunakara Reddy today asserted that propaganda of other religions would not be allowed in the seven hills Tirumala.
Addressing the devotees at a function held at the Venkateswara swamy temple, he warned that strict action would be taken against persons, who indulge in 'anti-Hindu' activities.
Mr Reddy said surveys conducted by TTD found that neither such propaganda was carried out by other religious faiths nor there was presence of any insignia in the Tirumala area.
The TTD would conduct several programmes through the Dharma Prachara Parishad (DPP) for the promotion of Hindu religion, culture and spiritual activities, he said, adding that DPP would hereafter be named ''Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad ''as suggested by the devotees and members of the Parishad.
He said the budget allocation for DPP had been increased to Rs 20 crore from the existing Rs three crore for conducting more spiritual programmes in future.
He said the TTD had launched a new programme to distribute religious and spritual important books free to the devotees on special occasions.
At the function, the TTD chairman handed over three lakh religious and spiritual books to G Pulla Reddy, President, Ganesh Utsav Committee, for distributing them on the occasion of Ganesh Nimajjanam on September 6.
