Aizawl, Sep 4 (UNI) A 10-member team comprising members from Federation of Industries and Commerce of Northeastern Region (FINER) and Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) will visit China and Hong Kong to study business prospect for this region.

FINER member M L Debnath said the team would leave tomorrow for those countries and meet industrialists, government officials and business people regarding the business prospects of common interest.

IIE would provide entrepreneurs here, the much-needed exposure to industrial development in Hong Kong and China and also help in developing contacts with different business organisations and agencies.

The ministry of small-scale industries has organised a two-weeks study tour under its international co-operation programme following the initiative of the Union Ministry of Commerce to promote trade in Northeastern states.

The team will study food processing, handloom/handicrafts, vocational education, entertainment and information technology.

A few memorandum of understandings (MoUs) are expected to be signed between FINER and trade bodies of both countries.

''We would also try to get investment into the Northeast by informing them about the rich natural resources and the positive industrial climate of the region'', said Mr Debnath adding that China was taking initiative to invest in India.

Meanwhile, a business group from NE states is now visiting Dhaka to sort out the existing hurdles of import-export with Bangladesh.

The team is scheduled to meet officials of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce.
