Man charged with murder of wife and three children

LONDON, Sep 4 (Reuters) A man has been charged with the murder of his wife and three children in Greater Manchester after he was arrested on Friday when he flew back to Britain from Thailand.

Rahan Arshad triggered an international police hunt after the bodies of Uzma Rahan and her sons, Adam, 11, Abbas 8 and daughter Henna 6 were discovered in their house in Chealde Hulme two weeks ago.

Police said the bodies may have been lying undiscovered for up to four weeks. Post-mortems showed the victims died from head injuries.

On Friday, detectives said they had arrested 36-year-old Arshad after he got off a flight from Thailand shortly after 7 a.m. He will appear before magistrates later today.

Police had been hunting for Arshad since Aug. 21, the day after the bodies were found.

His BMW car was found at Heathrow and officers said flew to Thailand at the end of July.

Last week detectives released on police bail a 40-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, who had both been arrested on suspicion of murder.
