Iyer assures funds to Karnataka for development of adopted Villages
Bangalore, Sep 4 (UNI) Union Minister for Panchayath Raj Mani Shankar Iyer today assured to extend financial assistance to the Karnataka Government's ambitious project of adopting 1000 villages for overall development by spending over Rs 1000 crores.
Speaking to newsmen after a meeting with Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy here, he said that Karnataka has sought Center's assistance for this unique scheme under which Rs One crore would be spent for overall development of the adopted village. Basic infrastructures--all-weather road connectivity, supply of potable drinking water and electricity will be provided in all those adopted villages.
Mr Iyer said that the reservation system adopted in the village Panchayaths, including to the posts of President and Vice Presidents, in Karnataka was more rational and would be introduced as a model at the national level.
