Italian couple marooned in flood

Tikamgarh, MP, Sep 4 (UNI) An Italian couple, who had gone to visit a sanctuary, was marooned in a forest at famous tourist spot Orchha in this district due to flood, police said today.

Superintendent of Police, Ashutosh Rai said Mr Erniri Leone and Ms Anban Sini were safe besides villagers of forest villages Singhpura and Lautana.

Proper food arrangements had been made. The foreigners would be brought back after water, which was flowing six feet above the bridge on the Betwa river, receded.

The couple had gone to visit the sanctuary along with a guide two days back. Meanwhile, water was released from Rajghat and Matatila dams before their return.

Mr Rai said such situation had been created several times when water was released from the dam without prior information. A tribal couple was marooned on the other side of the bridge five days back when water was suddenly released.
