Infrastructure posts handsome growth of nine pc in July

New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) Reflecting improvement across most of the six sectors, key infrastructure industries like steel, cement and petroleum refinery products posted an impressive nine per cent growth in July 2006-07 over the same month last year.

In fact, the infrastructure industries having a weightage of 26.68 per cent of the total index for industrial production, put out the best performance in July in the current fiscal. The growth rate in June this year was 6.4 per cent.

For the April-July period the growth was seven per cent compared with 6.1 per cent during the same year-ago period.

Cement put out the best performance for July showing growth of 13.3 per cent against 3.6 per cent in the same period last year; followed by petroleum refinery products at 12.6 per cent and coal by 10.6 per cent.
