Jaipur, Sept 4 (UNI) The Gurjars today said the BJP government in Rajasthan was responsible for a community agitation yesterday turning violent.

Mahasabha state unit chief Ramgopal Guard said the state government has turned a deaf ear to the repeated demand of Gurjars for providing reservation to them. The state government had even set up high-level ministerial committee to look in their demands after the Gurjar Mahapanchayat last year. But the committee ''never took the demands seriously''.

He said Mahasabha representatives had discussed the issue with Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Home minister Gulab Chand Kataria, and were assured in this regard. However, nothing concrete has been done, he added.

Mr Guard said incensed over repeated false assurances the protestors turned violent.

About 25000 members of the community agitating over the issue yesterday at Hindon in Karauli district turned violent and damaged the Delhi-Mumbai railway track over a 2 km stretch near Hindon, signal system and the railway crossing.

They also indulged in loot in the local market place, damaged cinema halls and beat up bus drivers.
