Gang of interstate cheats busted
New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) The Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi police has busted a gang of interstate cheats, who used to intercept demand drafts and cheques during transit, with the arrest of five people.
Rajiv (24), Rakesh Kumar (23), Nitin Anand (25), Rahul Kumar (27) and Anil Kumar (29) were arrested for using forged documents in encashing the cheques and DD.
The accused used to open bogus accounts in banks by impersonation. Police said they used to connive with employees of a courier company to intercept the DD and cheques.
So far the misappropriated amount worked out to Rs 8 lakh.
Further investigations are in progress.
