Delhi-Mumbai rail track restored after Gurjars' stir
Jaipur, Sep 4 (UNI) Traffic on the Delhi-Mumbai railway track has been restored after agitators damaged it at Hindon in Karauli district yesterday while demanding reservation for Gurjars.
The Railway police has lodged two cases against the protestors while the civil police has filed three cases against them.
According to police, the entire stir organised by the Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti yesterday had been recorded and those who indulged in damaging the railway property were being identified.
Apart from these, newspaper stories will also be used as evidence for the cases.
Around 25,000 agitators damaged the Delhi-Mumbai railway track over a 2 km stretch near Hindon, broke the signal system and also damaged the railway crossing.
They also indulged in robbing the market place, damaged cinema halls and beat up state Roadways bus drivers.
Railway sources said a goods train was the first train to be sent off on the restored track. Later the passenger train service was resumed on the track.
After the government reached an understanding with the agitators, they called off their dharna at the site.
