City police seize large number of firearms from UP resident
Mumbai, Sep 4 (UNI) As many as 14 firearms and 35 live cartridges were seized from a man here last night, police said today.
Additional commissioner of police Bipin Bihari told reporters, acting on specific information, one Devraj Shrichandra Singh(21), who hails from Uttar Pradesh, was arrested from near the Indian Oil Colony at Andheri.
Singh was intercepted by the police in suspicious circumstances in an autorickshaw last night near Citi Mall off the Oshiwara Link road in Andheri.
Four pistols, two revolvers and eight country-made pistols and 35 cartridges were seized from his possession, Mr Bihari said.
He said upon interrogation, Singh has confessed to having brought the firearms from Uttar Pradesh to be delivered to a person near Mastkar Petrol Pump, Adarsh Nagar in Andheri. Singh had reached Mumbai only two days back from Bangra district in Uttar Pradesh.
