'Blasts injured denied medical treatment expenses'

Mumbai, Sep 4: Bharatiya Janata Party State unit vice president Kirit Somaiya today alleged that less than 100 injured people, out of the total of 870, in the 7/11 serial blasts have been extended medical treatment expenses.

Mr Somaiya told reporters here today that he would call upon the National Human Rights Commission chairman Dr A S Anand in New Delhi tomorrow and apprise the latter of the true picture.

He also alleged that the Railways had not paid Rs 50,000 as compensation to the grievously injured persons yet. Mr Somaiya further alleged that agents were active in securing compensation for the victims by charging a commission.

Meanwhile, he informed that a German company ''India Ottobock'', which manufactures artificial limbs, has agreed to provide artificial limbs free to the needy persons and a victim, Samir Gujarathi, has already been provided with an artifical limb by the company. Besides, well-known ENT surgeon Dr L H Hiranandani has also offered free treatment to the blast injured with hearing problems.
