BJP to organise Vande Mataram singing all over the state

Mumbai, Sept 4 (UNI) BJP general secretary Vinod Tavade today said that his party would organise collective singing of 'Vande Mataram' on September 7 in all towns of Maharashtra.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Tavade wondered as to how Samajwadi Party MP Abu Asim Azmi and NCP city working president Nawab Malik who took objection to the singing of this National Song, saying they do not believe in idol-worship, put hoardings of 'Ganapati Bappa Morya' all over the state.

He alleged that on the one hand by saying 'Ganapati Bappa Morya' these leaders are trying to attract the votes of the majority community, while on the other hand they are opposing the recital of 'Vande Mataram' to appease the minority community and secure their votes, too.

The party stand is that the first two stanzas of the song should be compulsorily sung by everyone, and the remaining stanzas, which were objected to by representatives of the minority community, could be sung as per the will of individuals, he clarified.

Mr Tavade said that the BJP will commence an 'anti-terrorism' and 'anti-price' hike campaign from September 18 to October 10.

Senior BJP leaders like state BJP president Gopinath Munde, leader of the opposition in legislative council, Pandurang Phundkar and others will address 83 meetings all over the state, he added.
