AP Police foil plan to spark communal tension, one held
Hyderabad, Sep 4 (UNI) The city police claimed to busted a plan by some elements to allegedly kill a VHP or BJP leader during the Ganesh idol immersion ceremony scheduled for September 6 with the arrest of a man.
According to police sources, Mohammad Shakil (24) and his associates were plotting to carry out the killing on September 6 and unleash communal violence.
However, counter intelligence agents trailed his movements and arrested him late last night.
Shakil reportedly told his interrogators of the plan to kill a leader in the Saidabad area of the city and create communal tension.
It was learnt the police seized some CDs from Shakil containing inflamatory speeches, footage of Babri Masjid destruction and the Gujarat massacre.
Police are now searching for two associates of Shakil who managed to escape.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened in the capital for the immersion ceremony following the arrest.
