Allahabad Bank evinces interest to take over UWB

New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) Joining the race for taking over United Western Bank Ltd, Allahabad Bank today submitted its Expression of Interest to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Four banks including ICICI, Canara, Federal and Andhra Bank have already evinced their interest to acquire UWB, which has been placed under moratorium by RBI.

While the board of ICICI has approved the proposal regarding the take over, the board of Andhra Bank is still to decide upon the issue.

Canara Bank has submitted its EOI to the RBI earlier in the day.
