Mumbai, Sep 4 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today asked the police to file an affidavit tomorrow with regard to the ban on Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha member Abu Asim Azmi from entering Bhiwandi.

Mr Azmi has challenged the ban ordered by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone-II, in the Bombay High Court.

A division bench comprising justices J N Patel and R S Dalvi had directed the investigating officer in the case to be present in court today. The court asked the police to file an affidavit and the matter will come up for further hearing on September 6.

Mr Azmi had been warned by the senior police inspector of Bhiwandi against delivering provocative speeches but, despite the warning, he had allegedly instigated members of the minority community in Bhiwandi which had led to two policemen being brutally hacked to death on July 5. The ban on Mr Azmi is effective up to September 9.
