A partly sunny day, dry weather likely in coming days

New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) After a heavily overcast sky and a deluge of rain last week, which saw the capital recieve nearly 200 mm of rainfall, it was a sunny day in Delhi today though North Westerly winds continued to bring relief from the warm and humid weather.

Though clouds continued to hover over the Delhi skyline, they were interspersed by sunny intervals.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 32.4 degree Celsius, two degrees below normal.

After a bountiful rainfall over the last week which saw the capital recieve nearly 200 mm of rainfall, it has been a dry weather in Delhi since yesterday.

The dryness in the weather is likely to prevail in the coming days with the weatehr office forecasting a partly cloudy sky (but no rains) during the next 24 hours.

Though some rains have been forecast for Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, a dry weather is expected to prevail in most other parts of north west India, including Delhi.

About 210 mm of rainfall was recorded in Delhi last week, making the rainfall in Delhi more than 20 per cent in surplus of the normal rainfall in Delhi during the season.

The rain, coupled with southerly winds, brought coolness to the weather in Delhi.

Frequent lulls in rainfall activity over the last few months had led to apprehensions that Delhi might recieve less than normal rainfall. However, showers of the last week have dispelled these fears.
