20 villages in Dholpur inundated

Jaipur, Sep 4 (UNI) Rains have weakened in Rajasthan but 20 villages in Dholpur district have been inundated by Chambal water discharged from Kota barrage.

Reports from Dholpur say at least 20 villages have turned into are surrounded by water due sudden gush of water from the Kota barrage. Today 11840 cusecs of water were discharged from the barrage opening two gates at a height of five feet. The water level in Chambal river is curently 139.75 feet at Dholpur, which is above the danger level.

The district administration has arranged 12 boats to transport villagers to safer places. Pedestrians have been asked to refrain from crossing the Chambal bridge connecting Agra and Dholpur.

Water levels at several places in Jhalawar district have receded but there is no information about the three missing people yet from Chapiheda village.

The water in the 1312 feet deep Gandhi Sagar dam is flowing at a height of 1310.11 feet and has 13,501 cusecs of water inflow.

The weather office say monsoon has receded from the state and most places are witnessing minimal rainfalls. Over the past 24 hours, the Chauth Ka Barwara in Sawaimadhopur district received 22 mm of rains. Banssur in Alwar district received seven mm, Mangrol in Baran and Fatehpur in Sikar received six mm, Jhalawar, Jhalrapatan recorded seven mm, Hindon in Karauli witnessed nine mm and Sujangarh in Churu received 11 mm.

The state capital has been sunny and bright over the past two days and the weather has turned warm. The maximum temperature recorded was 31 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 23, which is two degrees below normal.
