Mumbai, Sep 3 (UNI) Sourav Ganguly remained out of favour with the selectors, while a shoulder injury ruled out Anil Kumble from the teams announced for the tri-nation DLF Cup and the October-November ICC Champions Trophy here today.

Kumble was kept out to give him more time for rehabillitation from his injury.

The selectors who met under the chairmanship of Kiran More decided to stick with the 15-member squad which went to Sri Lanka for the DLF Cup tri-series in Malaysia where India will be pitted against Australia and West Indies from September 12 to 24.

S Sreesanth was left out of the 14-member squad announced for the Champions Trophy.

Former Indian Captain Saurav Ganguly could not find a place in any of the two squads along with pace bowler Zaheer Khan, who had a good county season this year and has been bowling well over the last 12 months or so.

Speaking to newspersons after a marathon two-hour meeting at the Cricket Club of India here today, Kiran More said, ''We looked at the report of Indian team physio John Gloster, who said that Kumble would have recovered from his shoulder injury in time for the Champions Trophy, but still decided to leave him out as we did not want to risk the champion bowler before a hectic season ahead.'' ''We looked at the long term prospects and decided with many tours ahead in this season, it would be better to leave him out now rather than risk a major injury afterwards,'' he added.
