Six killed in two road accidents in Punjab

Sangrur, Sep 3 (UNI) Six persons, including three women and a child, were killed and 18 others were injured in two road accidents in Sangrur district of Punjab this morning, police today said.

In the first accident, three women and a six-year-old child were killed and eight others injured when the jeep in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck near Mehla village. All the four died on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Asha (20), Jassi (21), Munni (55) and Golu (6).

Amongst the injured, four have been admitted to the Rajindra Hospital, Patiala in a serious condition, while the remaining were admitted to the local civil hospital. The victims were on their way to Barnala from Rohtak in Haryana in the jeep to attend a wedding.

In the second accident, two persons were killed and ten others injured when their Tata Sumo collided with a truck near Bhawanigarh Garacha village. The deceased were identified as Krishan and Bittu.

Three of the injured were refered to the Rajindra hospital at Patiala as their condition was stated to be serious, while the rest were admitted to the local civil hospital.
